Berry Recruitment is a GLAA (Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority) license holder, which is essential to our service within sectors including agriculture, horticulture and food production.

The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority works in partnership to protect vulnerable and exploited workers, and ensures businesses within the UK fresh produce sector meet the employment standards required by law.

We are committed to opposing modern slavery in all its forms and preventing it by whatever means we can, and by being a GLAA license holder, we are regularly assessed to check that we continue to meet the GLAA licensing standards which cover health and safety, accommodation, pay, transport and training. The GLAA also check that we are fit to hold a licence and that tax, National Insurance and VAT regulations are met.

What are the benefits of GLAA licensing?

Workers receive fair treatment and the pay, benefits and conditions they are entitled to.
Labour providers are not undercut by those who pay less than the minimum wage or avoid tax.
Industry standards are raised.
Labour users can check their workers come from a legitimate provider and are informed if their labour provider’s licence is revoked.
Consumers can be assured that their food has been picked and packed in an ethical environment. Illegal activities which lead to a loss of public revenue are reduced.

At Berry Recruitment, we believe strongly in ethical principles and good stewardship, so all of our clients and candidates can rest assured that we are fully committed to opposing modern slavery and labour abuse in all its forms and preventing it by whatever means we can.

We are also partnered with Stronger Together, which is a further demonstration of our commitment. Stronger Together are an organisation committed to tackling modern slavery, particularly forced labour, labour trafficking and other hidden third party exploitation of workers.
