Berry recruitment seeking expressions of interest in recruiting for two temporary Waste Advisor positions within our Place Operations team.



The key details of the assignment are as follows:




  • Position: Waste Advisor

  • Pay Band: 3

  • Number of Vacancies: 2

  • Start Date: 7 September 2026

  • Duration: 3 months

  • Hours: 30-37 hours per week

  • Location: Marsh Lane Depot, Lymington but working across the district

  • Essential Requirement: Candidates must have access to their own transport and be able to travel throughout the district as required.



Key job tasks are listed below:




  • As a priority to carry out site visits at the Council's domestic recycling sites (know locally as bring sites) to raise awareness of correct usage and alternative disposal options such as the larger amenity tips or weekly domestic collections.

  • To support the prevention of commercial waste being disposed of and flytipping at the sites.

  • Signpost commercial users to commercial waste services

  • Communicate, negotiate and discuss waste matters with residents.

  • Identify and act on barriers to good waste management, reducing contamination and maximising recycling.

  • Work with stakeholders to change and improve waste management behaviours.

  • Drive to and from sites across the New Forest District as required.

  • Keep secure accurate, effective and real time notes of visits, incidents and daily work to assist with enforcement cases.

  • To assist with the set up and delivery of roadshows and other engagement events.

  • Be prepared to work flexibly, if required, across early mornings, evenings and weekends for planned engagement events and doorstep visits.
