Description:

Berry Recruitment are NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Warehouse Manager to work for a our client in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Role: Dispatch Operative

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Key Responsibilities of the Dispatch Operative:

• Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shippin


• Manage a team of 6-10 warehouse staff: recruitment, training, scheduling performance reviews


• Maintain inventory accuracy through data entry, regular cycle counts, and reconciliation with our Warehouse Management System (WMS)


• Implement and enforce health & safety policies, ensuring 100% compliance with HSE standards


• Liaise with operations, transport planners, and our customers to meet service-level agreements (SLAs)


• Manage equipment maintenance schedules and liaise with external contractors for repairs to ensure Verran Freight are compliant with policies and procedures

About you:

• Proven experience (3+ years) as a Warehouse Supervisor/Manager in a fast-paced logistics or warehouse environment


• Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems


• Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to develop, coach, and motivate a frontline team


• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive under pressure


• Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail


• Strong communication skills—able to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and delivery drivers


• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word,)

Desirable Attributes

• Qualification / experience in team management or training


• Forklift licence
