Description:

I am looking for a proactive and organised Transport Planner to join a busy logistics team. You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating the general haulage fleet (rigid & artic), ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant deliveries.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Create and manage efficient daily and weekly transport plans


• Assign jobs to drivers based on availability, legal hours, and vehicle suitability


• Keep drivers and customers informed with clear, timely communication


• Track deliveries using TMS and GPS, ensuring everything runs smoothly


• Tackle delays or issues head-on to keep operations on track


• Ensure all transport activities meet legal and compliance standards

What You Bring to the Role:

• Solid experience in transport or traffic planning (general haulage/logistics ideal)


• Strong understanding of UK transport laws and road networks


• Confident using TMS, route planning tools, and Microsoft Office


• Excellent communicator with a calm, problem-solving mindset


• Self-starter with ambition to grow and take initiative


• Flexible and reliable – willing to be on-call as part of a rota

Desirable:

• CPC in Transport Management


• Knowledge of FORS, DVSA compliance, and tachograph systems
