Retail Assistant – Superstore (Temporary / Ad Hoc)


Location: Darlington
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour (paid weekly every Friday)
Hours: 9:30am – 4:00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
Days: Typically Tuesday to Saturday (ad hoc shifts)
Contract: Temporary / Flexible


About the Role


We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Retail Assistants to support a busy superstore in Darlington. This is a flexible, ad hoc temporary position, ideal for candidates who are available at short notice and enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment.


Key Responsibilities



  • Providing excellent customer service on the shop floor

  • Operating the till and handling transactions accurately

  • Assisting with stock replenishment and visual merchandising

  • Sorting and pricing incoming stock

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised store environment

  • Supporting the team with general day-to-day shop duties

  • Greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner


Requirements



  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred but not essential

  • Friendly, approachable, and confident when dealing with customers

  • Reliable and punctual with a flexible approach to work

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable working in a busy environment and on your feet


Working Hours



  • Shift: 9:30am – 4:00pm

  • Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

  • Shifts are offered on an ad hoc basis, typically between Tuesday and Saturday
