About the Role


We are seeking caring, reliable, and customer‑focused individuals to join our Mobile Assist Team (MAT). In this vital role, you will support blind, disabled, and elderly passengers, helping them safely board and alight from trains at Hertford North and other nearby stations.


This is a rewarding, people‑centred position where your support directly improves the travel experience of vulnerable passengers.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide safe, respectful assistance to passengers with mobility or accessibility needs

  • Support customers on and off trains, ensuring comfort and confidence throughout their journey

  • Deliver excellent customer service and act as a friendly, approachable presence on the station

  • Travel between Hertford North and nearby stations during shifts to meet assist requirements

  • Communicate clearly with station teams, train crews, and passengers

  • Maintain a calm, professional approach in a busy, time‑sensitive environment


Essential Requirements



  • Full UK driving licence (required for travelling between stations)

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a customer‑facing, support, or care‑related role

  • A patient, empathetic, and approachable manner

  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with the public

  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently

  • Physical capability to provide safe assistance where needed

  • Flexibility to work morning, evening, and night shifts
