Berry Recruitment is offering a fantastic opportunity for Contracts & Commercial Services Contracts Manager to join our team, working with Southampton City Council. This 3-month contract has the potential for full-time employment for the right candidates.
Southampton City Council is seeking a proactive, experienced, and driven Contracts Manager to lead and coordinate minor works and maintenance projects — with a specific focus on damp, mould, and condensation issues across our housing estates.
You’ll be improving living conditions for our residents by delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality repairs and refurbishment projects.
As the Contracts & Commercial Services Contracts Manager, you will:
Lead the planning, procurement, and delivery of remedial and planned maintenance projects (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, boiler replacements, major voids).
Ensure CDM compliance, health and safety, and regulatory standards are upheld.
Manage multi-trade teams, contractors, and resources to deliver on time and within budget.
Liaise with internal stakeholders including Housing Investment, Housing Management, Capital Assets, and Safety Services teams.
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, tenders, and performance reports.
Champion customer service, resident engagement, and continuous improvement.
Support the development of apprentices and drive service innovation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
HNC/HND or equivalent OR significant industry experience.
Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, with IOSH Level 3 (or working towards).
Proven experience in managing maintenance or construction contracts.
