Description:



This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of council contracts and supplier relationships to ensure high performance, value for money, compliance, and excellent service delivery. It involves working closely with senior leaders, suppliers, and procurement teams to oversee contract performance, manage risks, resolve disputes, negotiate contract changes, and drive continuous improvement.


Key duties include:



  • Managing supplier and stakeholder relationships.

  • Leading a small contract management team.

  • Monitoring contract performance, risks, and finances.

  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.

  • Negotiating contract changes and resolving disputes.

  • Identifying cost-saving and commercial opportunities.

  • Supporting service areas with underperforming contracts.

  • Promoting social value, sustainability, and ethical supplier practices.

  • Providing contract management guidance and training across the organisation.



Person Specification Criteria Essential Desirable Qualification


• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or professional experience


• At least five years’ experience in a contract management role. Evidence of professional development to support the purpose of this role.
