Job Specification – HGV Class 1 / 7.5 Tonne Driver (Part‑Time)

Job Title: HGV Class 1 Driver / 7.5 Tonne Driver
Hours: 16 hours per week
Working Days: Tuesdays & Wednesdays
Shift Length: 8.5 hours per shift (includes 30‑minute unpaid break)
Pay Rate: £14.87 per hour
Pay Frequency: Paid weekly on Fridays
Base Location: Newton Aycliffe
Typical Delivery Areas: Leeds, Hull, Washington, and surrounding regions

Role Overview

We are looking for a dependable and experienced HGV Class 1 / 7.5 Tonne Driver to join our team on a part‑time basis. Starting from Newton Aycliffe, you will carry out deliveries across areas such as Leeds, Hull, Washington, and other regional routes.

This role is perfect for drivers seeking stable part‑time hours with a regular weekly pay schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 1 (C+E) or 7.5 Tonne (C1) vehicle.


• Complete delivery routes across Leeds, Hull, Washington, and other assigned areas.


• Ensure goods are transported safely and in line with company standards.


• Conduct daily vehicle checks before and after each shift.


• Accurately complete all paperwork and digital logs.


• Deliver excellent customer service at all delivery and collection points.


• Follow all road safety guidelines and comply with driving regulations.


• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle.

Requirements

Essential:

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence or 7.5 Tonne (C1) licence


• Current CPC qualification


• Valid Digital Tachograph Card


• Proven driving experience with Class 1 or 7.5T vehicles


• Strong understanding of road safety and compliance


• Ability to work independently


• Reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail

Desirable:

• Familiarity with the North East, Yorkshire, and Humberside delivery routes


• Manual handling experience


• Good communication and customer service skills
