Berry Recruitment is looking for a Business Support Officer to work at the Civic Centre Office on an ongoing temp contract.


Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm (hybrid working available)


This role provides flexible administrative and business support services across the Council, helping ensure consistent, efficient service delivery to both internal departments and external customers.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide professional customer service in person, by telephone, and in writing.

  • Carry out a wide range of administrative tasks including:

    • Word processing

    • Scanning, photocopying and filing

    • Preparing presentations and documents

    • Distributing information accurately and on time



  • Maintain and update electronic and paper filing systems.

  • Collect, record and input data, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

  • Produce reports, use mail merge, and update customer tracking systems.

  • Organise and support meetings involving internal teams and external agencies.

  • Manage document storage and archiving in line with:

    • Information Security policies

    • Data Protection requirements

    • Freedom of Information legislation

    • Council retention schedules



  • Support Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Protection requests by gathering required information within statutory deadlines.

  • Process and validate applications, permits, passes and checks using Council systems and equipment.

  • Assist with office administration, including maintaining equipment and noticeboards.

  • Support financial administration activities such as:

    • Processing purchase orders

    • Managing imprest accounts

    • Processing recharges

    • Travel warrants

    • Raising cheques




Key Skills and Experience Required



  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Accurate data entry and record management.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office and business systems.

  • Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.

  • Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and departments.
