We are recruiting for a Legal Assistant/Caseworker based in Central Oxford for a fun and flexible firm with good opportunities for support, development and career progression.

Role: Legal Assistant/Caseworker

Salary: £18,000 - £24, 000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 09:00 -17:00

Key Responsibilities of Legal Assistant/Caseworker:

  • Assist all Advocates throughout all stages of case preparation;

  • Administratively manage a caseload of files under the supervision of Solicitors and Advocates.

  • Drafting letters to clients, courts and third parties, taking clients instructions, preparing statements, applications, written representations and other legal documents.

  • Accurately time record for all work carried out on the case management system;

  • Ensuring standards of files are met in accordance with the Office Manual and Lexcel standards;

  • Undertake legal research and instruct experts when required

Candidate Specification of Legal Assistant/Caseworker:

  • Experience in criminal law proceeding or working in a Solicitors office is desirable;

  • Good communicator in both written and spoken English;

  • Good understanding of client care requirements and a commitment to legal aid;

  • Must be proactive in seeking to assist fee earners and apply a consistent attention to detail;

  • It would be desirable but not essential to have a legal qualification or working towards a legal qualification such as ILEX.
