Berry Recruitment are recruiting for a Legal Assistant on behalf of our client, an award-winning legal services firm based in the Hertfordshire area. As a Legal Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing efficient service to clients, progressing files, and supporting the Private Client Department. This role requires specialised knowledge and experience in dealing with private clients.

Salary: £26000 - £32000 per annum (dependant on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle client instructions, progress matter files, and draft legal documents.

  • Achieve set fee targets, maintain chargeable time requirements.

  • Maintain control of an allocated caseload, ensuring file management standards.

  • Draft legal statements, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and other documents.

  • Bill matters promptly and accurately, collect outstanding costs and disbursements.

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • LLB Law degree.

  • Minimum 2-year background working within a law firm.

  • Experience dealing with private clients.

  • Desirable: Secretarial experience in a Law firm.

  • Knowledge and passion for private client law.

  • Good communication skills and fast, accurate keyboard skills.

  • Computer Literacy in relevant software packages.

  • Ability to multi-task, organise, and work calmly under pressure.

  • Strong organisational skills and initiative.
