A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Building Safety Inspector to join a local authority, responsible for carrying out day to day inspections for fire health and safety checks.


You will be based at the Lyndhurst site working on a temp to perm contract. The working hours are Monday to Friday 37 hours a week with an hourly pay of £16.40.


Main Duties:



  • Carry out inspections of buildings to ensure all fire safety standards are adhered to and complied with

  • Undertake reviews of fire risk assessments

  • Engage with residents to provide fire safety instructions

  • Undertake weekly fire alarm tests and weekly emergency lighting flick tests where required

  • Ensure all fire doors are fitted properly without fault

  • Ensure local fire and rescue services can access up to date plans of each building

  • Work closely alongside the servicing and compliance officer

  • Undertake HHSRS evaluations as required - Housing Health & Safety Rating System

  • Investigate, report and action works arising from the CRM system/Customer Call Centre/Repairs Team

  • Undertake Disabled Discrimination Act audits

  • Carry out any other duties as may be directed by the Health and Safety Officer


Candidate Requirements:



  • FDIS Certificated Inspector

  • Up to date knowledge of legislation such as The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Housing Act 2004, Building Regulations 2010, standards and best practice in fire safety

  • Excellent understanding of fire prevention and Health & Safety legislation

  • Ability to conduct investigations into incidents and produce reports on outcomes

  • Knowledge of HHSRS - Housing Health & Safety Rating System

  • Ability to work independently on own initiative with minimum supervision

  • Ability to communicate to a wide audience of recipients and resolve situations

  • IT Literate - specifically Microsoft O365 and other specific software

  • Current full driving license
