Agency Workers Regulations

Are You Ready?

The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) came in to effect on 1st October this year. The AWR extend certain (although not total) equal treatment rights to temporary workers with regard to pay, holiday rights and working conditions once they have completed a 12 week client qualifying period. For many companies the AWR will have a minimal effect due to their seasonal or sporadic usage of temporary staff or the existing levels of pay in place. However if you are a regular temporary staff user and you have yet to assess the AWR’s impact, now is the time to act.

Berry Recruitment is taking a proactive approach to the AWR and is committed to helping employers gain a full understanding of the Regulations. Our Consultants have undergone in-depth AWR training and, by talking to various companies over recent months, we have developed a detailed understanding of the AWR’s practical implications. Encouragingly we have found that in most cases companies can achieve AWR compliance and avoid unnecessary on costs and administration time through just a few simple steps.

To help companies assess the AWR’s impact, Berry Recruitment has created a simple AWR Basic Facts sheet as well as an AWR Survey which many of our existing clients have utilised. If you would like a copy of the Survey or we can be of further assistance with your AWR planning please contact Spencer Berry (Business Development Director) on 01727 898650.
